The Contemplative Society (TCS) embraces and shares the visionary and mystical heart of the Christian Wisdom tradition. TCS has opened a new role for a “Retreat & Communications/Marketing Co-ordinator”. This position is ideal for a person with an active Contemplative practice from any tradition or experience and knowledge of the Christian wisdom tradition, and who is skilled in both project management and communications/social media marketing. TCS is a 27-year old Canadian charity based out of Victoria, BC. This is a remote posting that does require scheduled in-person presence at TCS retreats/events in Victoria, in BC, and elsewhere in Cascadia. TCS draws upon and promotes the work of Rev. Dr. Cynthia Bourgeault as one of our primary Wisdom teachers. We do so by sponsoring retreats, wisdom schools, and workshops (whether in-person or online) led by Cynthia and other distinguished teachers of the Christian contemplative path; through the sales of instructional and inspiration materials supportive of the contemplative life; by actively nurturing local teachers of the contemplative way; by maintaining communication among TCS members and friends; and by co-ordinating with other groups supporting Wisdom work. Skills Required: • Experience in retreat, project, or event co-ordination or management, including in related budgeting matters. • Excellent communication and marketing skills, including social media marketing, drafting correspondence, and responding to inquiries and requests. • Ability to work collaboratively with TCS customers, clients, retreatants, members, volunteers, teams, organisational committees, staff, and contractors. • Ability to work independently, with little supervision, amid competing priorities. • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. • Experience working with a not-for-profit organisation. • Experience maintaining databases and filing systems. • Core computer skills of MS Office Suite, Zoom, WordPress, and PayPal, and knowledge of or willingness to learn Keela and WooCommerce. • Adherence to TCS strategic statements, plans, policies and procedures including in finances. This is a "Remote" position. The term is from May 21st, 2024 to May 20th, 2025 and has the opportunity for renewal upon completion. Scheduling Flexibility is Required in the position through an ability to travel twice per year (at TCS expense) and an ability to work extended hours during on-site retreats and live events.
