Director(s) - Job Description POSITION: Director (Volunteer) TIME COMMITMENT: Five to ten hours a month (meetings, preparation, and consultation) TERM: One year ACCOUNTABILITY: The Directors are collectively accountable to the members, community, funders and other stakeholders. They are accountable for the Society’s performance in relation to its mission and strategic objectives, and for the effective stewardship of financial and human resources. AUTHORITY: Individual Directors have no authority to approve actions by the Society, to direct staff, or to speak on behalf of the Society unless given authority by the Society. RESPONSIBILITY: The Directors are responsible for managing and supervising the management of the affairs of the Society, and are tasked with making informed decisions based on broad knowledge and an inclusive perspective. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: Every Director of the Society is expected to: Prepare for and participate in the Society meetings Listen to others views, advocate their own, identify common interests and alternatives, and be open to compromise.
