You take care of the creative, I’ll take care of all the technical work. I am retired. I used to work in publishing and it’s in my blood. Since retirement, I have helped make many books, reports, and brochures ready for publishing on Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) and/or for various POD (Print On Demand) services. If I take you on, it will be a passion project and I will charge $10/hour. To give you some idea of how that might work out, I recently formatted text and made covers for two print and ebook novels and it cost the client just over $250, all told. That author was organized and had a clear vision. Results may vary, but I keep a spreadsheet on every project with a running total, so it can never get out of hand. Here’s what I do: 1) properly format your manuscript in MS Word 2) Make text files suitable for e-book or print book according to publisher specs. 3) Make covers ready for printing to Amazon.com or any other POD service and liaise with technical people at the POD service, when required. 4) When we're done, I give you all the files used in the creation of your book, including fonts and images and production notes. After that, you are free to do with them as you wish. I take no credit or ownership. They are all yours. 5) I will keep backups of all the files (unless you tell me not to) 6) work locally or long-distance. I’m in Victoria. What I don’t do: 1) Editing: I am happy to point out issues if they are glaring and I happen to catch them. Generally, I do not read the books I produce. 2) Cover art. I am not an artist. However, I can direct you to many public domain image banks that provide very nice images from which we can create an impressive cover. Or I can show you how to use new AI tools to create cover art. Or I can use your own art. 3) Design: I prefer to deliver your vision rather than try to impress you with my limited design capabilities. Hopefully, you have a clear vision and together we can deliver what you want. So far, this approach has always yielded good results. 4) Rush jobs.
