Vintage, Retro and Collectibles Show now at Commonwealth – August 5
A New Location for the spectacular Vintage, Retro & Collectible Show/Sale! (closer to Victoria, just off highway 17 by Royal Oak junction.)
This major event is a great mix of collectibles; everything from pre and post war jewelry, gold and silver coins, and paper collectibles like stamps and postcards. Toys: dinky cars,, meccano, mechanical and everything from stuffed to Star Wars! Tableware, paintings, and an amazing assortment of wonderful books. We are seeing more and more 50’s vintage clothes, bags, shoes and collectibles; furniture and art, lamps and ornaments. Exotic Thai and Japanese pieces and more local First Nations collectibles.
Come and experience the show at the fabulous Saanich Commonwealth Place, 9:30 am – 4 pm Entrance $5. Earlybirds: 8:30 am $20. An excellent place to scope out with your family and friends.

Fibrations Festival – August 18
Join us for the 13th annual Fibrations Festival! You will find us at the Fernwood Community Center between 10 AM – 4 PM on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. The vendor market features makers from across the Pacific Northwest sharing their art, yarn, fibre and more. You can also participate in workshops given by local organizations like the Victoria Handweavers and Spinners Guild, purchase tickets for the toonie raffle to win a prize generously donated by the vendors, and bring your children for some fun activities. Fibrations is a great opportunity to celebrate everything you love about fibre with a passionate community from all over Vancouver Island and beyond.
Synergy Ecostar Awards – applications open now until September 2
Applications are now open for the 2024 Ecostar Awards! Hosted by the non-profit Synergy Foundation, these awards celebrate Vancouver Island’s local champions of initiatives, projects, and innovations that contribute to a vibrant future in which our communities and environment both prosper.
There are 15 award categories to apply for, from Inspirational New Venture and Innovation to Greenest Workplace and Ecopreneur of the Year. Check out the award categories and apply by September 2nd at ecostarawards.com
The Torque Masters Car Club is hosting its annual Auto Extravaganza in Sidney Sunday August 4. This car show has become one of the most popular on the island due to its incredible location. Although open to all automotive classes the show primarily features Hot Rod Classics.
Expect a full weekend experience as Torque Masters continues their efforts to create a Weekend Destination Event. Saturday starts with a Poker Run which ends downtown on Third Street. A public street event, including a local band, is planned with Beacon’s Brewery and Small Gods. Car related movies will be playing at Star Cinema. Admission will be food or cash donations to the Lions Food Bank.
Sunday will include a Vendor Midway and entertainment by The Haven. Complementing the event Downtown businesses will offer unique shopping and dining experiences. The Peninsula Celebration Society will feature Completely Credence in Beacon Park at 2 pm to round off this Destination Weekend.
Symphony in the Summer Festival July 24 – August 3, 2024

Music fills the warm summer air once again as Victoria Symphony’s annual Symphony in the Summer Festival returns from July 24 – August 3, 2024. HarbourCats Into Home Stretch of 2024 Season
The Victoria HarbourCats are in the home stretch of their 2024 West Coast League season and as of July 25th, have just 12 games remaining, nine of which will be at Wilson’s Group Stadium in Victoria. On July 26-28 the Kamloops NorthPaws come to town for Kids Free Weekend. All kids 12 and under get in free at the gate! That is followed by games on July 30 to August 1st, when the Edmonton Riverhawks visit and then on August 5th to 7th, the seven-time defending Champion Corvallis Knights arrive to close out the season. August 5th is the last fireworks night of the year, while the 6th is Jersey Off Our Backs Night and the 7th is Fan Appreciation Night. Saanich Fair – August 31 – September 2
We are so excited for you to see all of the changes we have made this year to help heighten your Saanich Fair experience. Our goal is to provide a safe environment that gives our guests the best possible experience and value for their entry fee.
For $15 per adult, $ 10 for youth and seniors, kids free, we have 26 departments to see throughout the grounds, endless entertainment, animals and shows, and the new improved Kid Zone in the West Field. Details here.
Victoria Greek Fest – August 23-25 & August 28 – September 2
With fabulous food and joyful shouts of “OPA,” the 23rd Annual Victoria Greek Fest will take place over two weekends from Friday, August 23 to Sunday the 25th, and from August 28 to September 2nd, at the Greek Hellenic Centre, 4648 Elk Lake Drive (beside Commonwealth Place). This year’s festival will feature delicious traditional Greek food, Greek desserts, baked goods, and live entertainment from Greece and around North America. Details here.
Victoria Fringe Festival – August 21 – September 1
Dance, comedy, drama, spoken word, kids programming, or late-night cabarets, try a bit of everything this summer at the Fringe! The 2024 Victoria Fringe will feature local, national and international artists again this summer as the Fringe returns for 11 days of indie theatre at 5 traditional venues and 4 unconventional venues across the city. We are excited to be back with live events and shows, including the Fringe Eve Preview and FringeKids Fest and a nightly Fringe Club bringing post-show vibes, libations, and pop-up programming throughout the festival. Vancouver Island Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live – September 8
The Vancouver Island Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live is happening on Sunday, September 8th, 2024. Since 2010, the Ride to Live has brought thousands of riders from across the island together for one common purpose; to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer. Funds raised through this event support the important work of Island Prostate Centre (IPC), the only non-profit that guides and empowers Vancouver Island men and their families as they navigate the uncertainty of a prostate cancer diagnosis.
The Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live is a time to celebrate survivors, families, loved ones and remember those we’ve lost. All funds raised stays on Vancouver Island to support men and their families dealing with Prostate Cancer. This year, starting and finishing at Enrico Winery, we are have a goal of raising $50,000! Looking forward to seeing you then!
Camosun Chargers Golf Tournament – September 27
Camosun College Athletics is excited for the third annual Camosun Chargers Golf Tournament taking place on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Highland Pacific Golf Course. This 9-hole shotgun is $550 per foursome (or $150 an individual) and includes green fee, cart, bucket of balls, and BBQ, along with on-course games and pre/post activities.
This is the biggest fundraiser for the athletics department and all proceeds go to the Chargers Development Fund.

Ultimate Toy Fair – September 21-22
The Ultimate Toy Fair is great for collectors and families! Vendors with items for sale including action figures, vintage toys, models, trains, comics, Barbie, dolls, bears, LEGO, video games, Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, diecast cars, Hot Wheels, vinyl records and more! You never know what you might find!

Esquimalt Ribfest – September 6-8
The organizing committee is excited to host this year’s Esquimalt Ribfest on September 6th, 7th and 8th at Bullen Park in Esquimalt and they look forward to having an even greater impact on charities in the community. The six big-rig BBQ companies along with 8 local craft brewers are ready to go. They will be joined by over 20 other charitable and commercial vendors for this three day event. There are 20 local bands committed for the entertainment. Admission is free or by donation to the Esquimalt Fire Fighters’ Charitable Foundation and we look forward to seeing everyone at Ribfest 2024.
Capital Bike Fall Go By Bike Week – September 23 – October 6

We are excited to announce our next FREE Clothing Swap will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024! Just as the season is changing, this is your chance to refresh your closet with up to 10 new to you fall/winter items. Clothing Swap appointments will be first-come, first serve. Although you do not need to book an appointment to drop off clothes, you will need to be a registered participant in the Clothing Swap prior to donating clothes.
