Offered here is a rare Queen Elizabeth II Official 100th Birthday Greeting Card, sent in 2011 to commemorate the milestone birthday of Mrs. Helen Senior of Victoria, B.C. This collectible card features a printed signature as well as a picture from the Queen's 2010 trip to Canada. "The tradition of the British Monarch sending a greetings to those attaining 100 years of age, was started by King George V in 1917, when he requested his Private Secretary to send a telegram greeting to those celebrating their 100th birthday, which back then, would have been significantly fewer in number than those reaching their 100th birthday today. This tradition continued until 1982, when the Post Office scrapped telegrams, and the 100th birthday greeting telegram was replaced with a more modern ' Telemessage ', which continued until 1999, when the late Queen’s birthday greeting card was introduced. The design for the greetings card has changed several times since 1999, as does the text of the late Queen’s greeting. The Monarch sends their greeting for the 100th birthday, and then again at the 105th birthday, and then every birthday after that with the oldest recipient of the late Queen’s birthday greetings being aged 115 years." In Canada, the preparation and delivery of the Monarch’s birthday greetings cards, is arranged by the Governor General's Office in Ottawa, Ontario. "These 100th birthday greetings cards sent by the late Queen Elizabeth II are extremely rare and will make an excellent and desirable addition to anyone’s Royalty collection, ands following her recent death, her 100th Birthday Greetings Cards have now become even rarer and more desirable." This item is a must-have for any fan of British Royalty. From Buckingham Palace, this unique piece of historical memorabilia would be a special addition to any royal collection. Perfect for enthusiasts of royalty collectibles, this card is a true gem that showcases a piece of British history in a tangible form. Additionally, a letter of congratulations from then Canadian Governor General, David Johnson, is included in the offering. Please call 250 658-0587 to view.
