Photos show a new green mattress cover over the original futon mattress. To make the mattress more comfortable, I added a layer of cotton (in the form of a bed comforter), a layer of memory foam, and a layer of regular foam. Also, to reduce any discomfort from the futon's metal supports, I added some plywood to flatten out under the mattress. This has worked well as a guest bed, as well as a couch, for several years. The green cover has always had a blanket over it. The house has two cats, and they have almost never had contact with this cover, but just so you know. The metal frame is in good condition, except for one spot where a weld fas failed. I made a rudimentary fix, as pictured, and that has held for over 3 years. A better solution would be a small metal strap, a couple of holes, and some screws to better hold the two components together that are loose without the zap strap. It's an easy fix but one I have not needed to do so far. Comes with floor pads on all 4 feet. There are many futons for sale on fb market, and this one is the most comfortable. A new mattress at a futon store was over $400. I think you could use this as a bed full time and sleep just fine.
