Job Opportunity: Private BI/Daycare Support Worker (Part-Time) Location: • Daycare in Metchosin. • Ideal for someone already working at Wishart Elementary who could accompany the child on the school bus. About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate private Behavioral Intervention (BI)/Daycare Support Worker to support a child with autism, pathological demand avoidance (PDA), anxiety, and toileting needs. (There is also another sibling with ASD at the daycare.) Key Responsibilities: • Provide behavior support to the child at daycare, ensuring interventions are discreet and non-intrusive unless necessary. • Assist with “social-emotional” goals as per the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Behavioral Intervention (BI) goals. • Maintain open communication with the child’s care team, including Occupational Therapist (OT), Behavioral Consultant (BC), two co-parents, and daycare management. • Support toileting needs (supplies provided). • Collaborate with daycare staff and adhere to all daycare policies. • Prepare preferred activities for the child during “non-direct” time at daycare. • Occasionally create visuals or laminate materials for the child as needed • Manage paperwork for payment submissions and handle income taxes as a contractor. • Willingness to learn about PDA and engage in ongoing training with the Behavioral Consultant. • Obtain a criminal background check, as required by the daycare. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with children with autism and behavioral challenges (PDA experience is a strong asset). • Organized and detail-oriented. • Ability to drive and transport two children from daycare if needed (additional pay provided; must have a personal vehicle). Hours & Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2 hours per day: • Preferred: 2:45 PM–4:45 PM (arriving from Wishart Elementary/school bus). • Other options: 2:30 PM–4:30 PM or 3:00 PM–5:00 PM Compensation: Hourly rate paid jointly between privately and through the Autism Funding Unit (AFU) Start Date: Position begins January 6, 2025 (earlier start possible).
