“Through addicting jazz compositions and her powerful expression of soul, Evans exemplifies her signature sound while taking her artistry to new heights.” – Cashbox Canada JUNO Award-winning Ottawa-based jazz/soul vocalist and storyteller Kellylee Evans is a high-octane, chameleon-like performer whose natural charm and improvisational vocal style embody jazz, soul, pop, and hip-hop. A 2011 JUNO winner and 2018 nominee, she has tackled everything in such classics fight or flight?, Nina – her 2011 Juno-winning tribute to the legendary Nina Simone – and I Remember When. Her 2015 Decca album, Come On, is a wonderfully refreshing album about love and life that comes on the heels of two nearly career ending accidents, including a freak lightning strike in her Ottawa kitchen. However, Kellylee Evans is nothing if not resilient and has been captivating audiences along her journey, opening for stars such as John Legend, George Benson and Willie Nelson, as well as singing the national anthem at Toronto Raptors and Ottawa Senators games. Since her last performance in Victoria in 2019, she has released two EPs, Greenlight (2021) and recently, Show Love (2024). Now you can experience this stylistic connoisseur live, in her element as part of her Story and Song project with Michael Shand keys at Hermann’s Jazz Club on February 13.
