Anyone Up For Some Quasi- Classic Country

I'm an old mediocre bass player who is wanting to put together a "kind of/sort of/mainly classic/ alternate country" band. I'm not an aficionado, just someone who really enjoys this weirdly broad, yet hard to define, genre. I've got nothing much against modern mainstream country; I just want to pay my respects to some older bands and musicians and their musical legacies. Anyone interested would be welcome. Ideally, the lineup would include a guitar player (or two), lap or pedal steel, keyboard, fiddle, drums and vocalist. Perhaps players like Redd Volkaert, Kenny Vaughan, Steuart Smith, Albert Lee, James Burton, Reggie Young, Bill Kirchen, Mike Bourge, Jim Murphy, Buddy Emmons, Lloyd Green are familiar to you. Artists and bands that I admire, in no particular order, include: Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys, Merle Haggard and the Strangers, Buck Owens and The Buckeroos, Waylon Jennings, Asleep at the Wheel, Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, Emmy Lou Harris and the Hot Band, Rodney Crowell, Ricky Skaggs, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives, JJ Cale, The Byrds, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers...and the list goes on. It would be great to gig with the band; however, the primary goal is to have fun while developing our musicality and giving a 'tip of the hat' to those who have contributed so much to our musical landscape. I hope there are enough players out there to make this happen.
