Skate Rink Attendant

The Butchart Gardens is looking for individuals to fill the following position: DEPARTMENT: VISITOR SERVICES POSITION: RINK ATTENDANT The Visitor Services department is seeking enthusiastic and safety conscious individuals to join our team as Rink Attendants for the Magic of Christmas season. Our Skate Rink team is responsible for the general operations and maintenance of our outdoor skate rink during our Christmas season. This position requires constant interactions with the public, frequent completion of physically demanding tasks, and the ability to enforce safety guidelines. No previous skating or rink experience required. All relevant training will be provided on site. DUTIES: • Ensuring the safety and enjoyment off all visitors by supporting our house rules and garden etiquette in a confident and service-oriented manner • processing payment for ticket sales and skate rentals • inspecting, cleaning and managing incoming and outgoing skate and equipment rentals • completing skate rink maintenance including manual scraping and flooding, temperature collection and minor ice repairs • proactive interaction with visitors in a wide variety of service situations including monitoring, assisting and problem-solving • other duties as required by the Visitor Services department REQUIREMENTS: • comfortable working outside in all types of weather • good physical fitness and strong ability to bend, lift, and push. This position requires the ability to push a heavy metal shovel blade across the ice, shovel snow, and navigate safely on ice surface (with clamp-on shoe grips) • availability to work evening shifts, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime. • approachable, outgoing, with excellent customer service skills • reliably attend all scheduled shifts in a punctual manner • willingness to adhere to established appearance policies • no previous rink or skating experience is required This position offers 20-40 hours per week from December 1, 2025 – January 6, 2026. Full time availability is preferred, however part time (3-4 days a week) may be considered. Shifts times will primarily fall between 2pm-10:30pm. Both weekday and weekend availability are required. Wage starting from $20.00 per hour.
