The Butchart Gardens - Seed and Gift Store Inventory Clerk

The Butchart Gardens is looking for an individual to fill the following position: DEPARTMENT: SEED & GIFT STORE POSITION: INVENTORY CLERK LEVEL 1 This is an entry level position working with the Butchart Gardens Seed and Gift Store team. This position would be responsible for working with our inventory team to offload and sort shipments into our warehouse facility, reconciling stock numbers to shipment invoices, and pricing of items. The successful candidate will be required to: • receive deliveries for the Seed and Gift Store • off-load trucks and move heavy boxes and wooden pallets • operate a pallet jack for moving stock • unpack and price shipments • accurately complete paperwork and reconcile invoices with shipments • display and fill product in the store on a daily basis • maintain the loading bay and warehouse in a clean and organized manner • liaise with and assist store staff and buyers • work on the retail sales floor as required The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: • good physical condition and ability to ability to lift heavy objects repetitively (an independent physical assessment is required for this position) • CSA approved steel toed footwear • long hours of standing on concrete floors and navigating stairs multiple times a day • the ability to perform repetitious jobs (pricing hundreds of the same item) • math and problem-solving skills essential • organized, attention to detail • self motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team • the ability to professionally receive and implement constructive feedback • the ability to remain calm and professional in all interactions • the ability to work with a sense of urgency • demonstrated understanding of excellence in visitor service • outwardly positive, enthusiastic attitude This is a seasonal position from April to September offering 32 to 40 hours a week, with the possibility on continuing into the fall. The position requires both weekend and weekday availability and a variety of both day time and evening shifts. Wages starting from $20.00 an hour.
