1990 Westfalia

Beautiful 1990 Westfalia Vanagon GL with only 146,000 careful km. We are the third owners. It has: a keyless entry system with ‘puddle lights’ under each mirror and under sliding door to illuminate ground at night, electric door locks, heated electric mirrors, electric windows, Bosch halogen driving lights, updated turn signal lenses and LEDs replacing turn signals and all interior lights, including instruments. Third brake light in rear window includes backup camera which displays on screen of Pioneer AVH-3300NEX DVD RDS AV receiver, which is a premium unit with remote control and with Pioneer speakers added. GoWesty accessories include auxiliary battery kit, Propex HS 2000 furnace with thermostat, 16” alloy wheels, automatic transmission cooler (radiator), stainless steel pipes to main radiator, high power headlight kit, black dash cover, VDO instrument pair in former ashtray position displaying system voltage and A/T temperature, upgraded sink water tap and custom cutting board fits exactly over sink, and new 3 window canvas for pop top and strong spring assist for raising pop top. There is a heavy duty cargo bag for the exterior overhead storage and a heavy duty retaining bungee system to keep it in place - also a proper cover that fits the entire vehicle. Plush seat fabric inserts for the headrests are included but not shown in the photos. Thule roof rack and Fiamma F45 awning. 2” trailer hitch for bike rack with wiring for a trailer. The passenger seat has a safe custom installed under it, with combination lock. Spare tire under the front was eliminated by the previous owner and replaced by additional storage. A flat kit and 12v pump are included instead, both new. It has Bilstein HD shocks and near new tires, sound deadener in doors and quarter panels for quiet highway experience. The fridge works well and is currently working, to prove it! Most importantly, a GoWesty EFI kit was recently installed on the engine which replaces a number of key parts which are no longer provided by VW, including fuel injectors, ignition system and throttle body. This cost $7,500 and to la large extent “future proofs” the engine for long term peace of mind and improves engine functioning in terms of power and fuel efficiency. It also allows for more detailed engine information which is supplied by a customizable scan gauge readout just above the steering column. Very handy. There are new memory foam mattress toppers - 3” for the lower and 2” for the upper bed. Service records are complete from 2007 to present, including receipts. All maintenance is up to date with many key parts replaced, like main and auxilliary batteries, geared starter motor, fuel and water pumps, thermostat, rear wheel cylinders, sliding door bearings, front and rear wheel bearings, PC board in main instrument cluster which feeds fuel and temp gauges, and valve cover gaskets.. This van drives like a dream and draws attention whenever we take it out, due to its exceptional appearance. We have owned 6 Westfalias over the last 30 years and this is the best of all we have owned - in fact one of the best we have seen, with the lowest mileage - but we are seniors and have finally come to the reluctant conclusion that our camping days are largely behind us and it’s time to move on.
