For December and January, all I had to do was plug into an outlet and charge the lithium batteries once every week or two (you can do this for free at the Walmart EV station). I wired up the solar panels in a series-parallel configuration to maximize efficiency during imperfect sunlight conditions (e.g. partial shade, dirty panels, or low horizon sun). Iโm more than happy to chat about any electrical or solar questions you may have. I spent over $6,600 on the custom solar, electrical, and battery setup (not including my time), and I can share links to all the products I bought if youโd like. Watch the video linked above for more details. Middle seat headrests (not shown in pictures or videos) โข Tire chains โข Jumper cables โข Wheel security lock โข Cable for charging the batteries from a standard outlet โข Desk extension (really nice if youโre planning to do serious computer work in the van) โข Nice hammock and hooks to hang it inside the van (great for napping and hanging out) โข Kitchen stuff (pot, pan, wooden plates, etc.) โข Tie-down straps (for surfboards, kayaks, canoe, etc.) โข Tri-folding mattress (really comfy, and ideal fitting for bed space and upper storage) โข Small broom and dust pan โข Smoke & CO detector โข Fire extinguisher Thereโs also a TV monitor extension arm that I used to hold my second monitor while working. Even if you donโt use it for a second monitor or TV, the arm is still a great feature to hold in whatever gear or clothing you may put in the cargo storage nets on the side wall. I also installed a cargo net on the ceiling with a couple other hooks that you can use to easily store a guitar. This setup will securely store your guitar on the ceiling in the perfect spot where you never stand up fully due to the seats (it will stay there safely locked in even on super bumpy roads). ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: =============== Full transparency: I bought this vehicle for $38,000 in 2021 when it had 152,000 km on it. I was the first North American owner after it was imported from Japan, and Iโve done a number of modifications to make it more comfortable, spacious, and to increase its off-grid capabilities (installed a much bigger sink, new stove, the whole solar and aux battery setup, bought side racks, and bed). In total, Iโve put in over $8,000 into this beauty of a van. The vehicle now has 177,600 km on it, so I believe $40,000 is a very reasonable price.
