This has been a fun project to convert this ex-BC Ferries lifeboat into a Gulf Island cruiser. Massive interior space on this 28' LOA makes it an ideal liveaboard for someone willing to customize it further. Custom enclosure on sides, all stainless, aluminum, plexi. Custom bow roller with electric Lewmar windlass for single-handed anchoring. Underwater Pettit Protect epoxy and Pettit Horizons bottom paint (just redid bottom paint and zincs at beginning of May). Interior is spray foamed, so the cabin stays cool with the windows open in the Summer and is easily heated by the heater in Winter. This boat has no core, its just straight fiberglass, so never have to worry about some leaking fitting somewhere rotting core. Original built-in floatation was preserved so this is an unsinkable vessel. Dickinson Diesel Lofoten heater for Winter cruising/liveaboard. 4 bunk berths forward which fit average sized adults, or can be easily converted to storage for a liveaboard (wood fiberglassed in, painted white). Yellow cedar countertop with epoxy coating. Adjustable height galley table, goes down flat to make large double bed and raises up for eating if desired. Bukh 36HP lifeboat engine. Runs excellent, very low hours. Danish manufacturer and has weight balances to minimize vibration. Gartside Marine in Sidney/Oak Bay is the local Bukh dealer and services this engine. Has keel cooling and dry exhaust so saltwater has never been through it. Has a stern post which the stern-to-shore line spool drops onto for easy stern-tying in stern-tie anchorages. All the basics for lighting and safety. All new electric system with Victron battery monitor. Older Caribe dinghy to go with it. Nature's Head composting toilet.
