Mechanics Special - 112,000 kilometers - 2012 Volkswagen Golf. This car was brought to Victoria 2 years ago and was stored. Upon attempting to start it again, the battery had died and was replaced with a new battery. Somewhere in that process the computer was tripped, and I have been unable to start it since. This car is literally a one old lady-owned vehicle and spent much of its life in a garage on Pender Island where she only drove to and from the market a couple of times a week, hence its very low mileage. I am a computer tech not a mechanic, and have thus been unable to re-set the computer on board. I even bought another used computer from a wrecked car of the exact same year and model (which comes with it) and have been successful in re-setting either one. Compared to identical models of this year and older, many have twice the mileage. One can see that a talented mechanic with the right diagnostic equipment should easily be able to get it started, which has been my plan. However, I am now moving east soon and do not have the time to get it running. Similar years and the same model, some with twice the mileage, are currently selling for between $9 and $12k, so there is room for considerable profit for the right motivated individual. It is dent-free with almost no scratches. However, the rubber-like rock guard shield installed at the factory on the hood is molded, and the hood has some scratches. A quick buffing and some paint touch-ups would likely take care of the minor blemishes. Otherwise, it's very clean and was detailed before it left Pender.
