***This is an AS-IS sale*** This exceptionally durable car has been part of my life since it was new. It has been well maintained by myself and my dad before me, who drove it on long commutes in the Los Angeles area. My limited mechanical knowledge and space (living in an apartment) precludes DIY maintenance, so I decided to buy a newer vehicle rather than continue to spend on repairs. This car would make a great project for anyone who doesn’t mind fixing a few things. Extensive service records (see the binder pictured) are available from 2025 all the way back to 2002. Due to the length of time I cannot guarantee these are comprehensive, though they do include all the highlights I can remember. This car includes the following: Engine tuned up in 2022 with new spark plugs and idle air control valve Transmission replaced in 2010 with rebuilt transmission Catalytic converter replaced in 2012. The check engine light has been on and off a few times since then, but it has not been on for the last few months. Timing belt replaced in 2019 A/C works (air is cold!) Brakes serviced regularly (most recent was the rear drum brakes in 2022) Winter tires with good tread (all-season or summer tires are not included) Odometer in miles (shops in BC have mistakenly recorded it as kilometres for CarFax) Issues include but are not limited to the following: Power steering is currently not working. Canadian Tire has confirmed that the power steering pump has failed. The rack and pinion may also be faulty although that was not inspected. High beam headlights are currently not working due to a broken turn signal/headlight switch (turn signals and low beam lights still work) Multiple oil leaks (oil needs to be topped up periodically) Belts (other than timing belt) may need replacement soon Windshield is cracked in the lower passenger side corner. Both sides of the crack have reached the edge of the windshield and it has not grown in years. Back power windows occasionally have difficulty going up and down It can be difficult to get the car started after it has been parked for a few weeks or longer. Sometimes in this case it shuts off shortly after starting. When it is started again it drives normally. There have been no accidents since the car was registered in BC in 2016. The only California accident I recall was a rear end collision while parked on the street in 2006 (body shop records are included). The car is currently driveable by someone with sufficient upper body strength for manual steering. Canadian Tire has advised the car be driven as little as possible until the power steering is fixed to reduce the chances of a damaged rack and pinion. Due to its current mechanical condition I am selling the car AS-IS. I’m happy to take it to a local garage of your choosing for a more thorough inspection (at your expense) if desired.
