This vehicle is a 1986 Mercedes Benz 300E 6 cylinder 3.0 L model 124 with collector plates and is being sold on behalf of a senior citizen who is currently out of the country and who is not available for contact. I am familiar with this vehicle and have driven it many times, most recently on February 13th. The body, inside and out, is very clean and in remarkably good condition, except for the upper roof where for some reason the paint is peeling (whereas it is not peeling at all anywhere on the remainder of the body of the vehicle). Most if not all of the repair paperwork dating back to 2003 is on hand and available to the (potential) buyer. There are two keys to the vehicle, one a master key and one a valet key. The car is equipped with an old school alarm system; when activated, the front headlights flash on and off. Supposedly, one of the two keys is meant to control this although I’m not certain which one nor exactly how it works. You would have to check the owner’s manual which is also on-hand and available. There is also a buzzing which seems to occur (in unison with the alarm?) or perhaps related to the seatbelts either being fastened or not, I’m not sure as well. The vehicle is equipped with an electric sunroof in good working order. The rearview mirror inside the vehicle is loose. The vehicle has a radio and cassette deck which are not currently working and have never been looked at. The fan system which is used to run the interior fans, heaters, defrosters, etc. also does not currently work. According to the mechanic, “power is now restored to heater/blower control panel but blower motor still is not receiving switched ground signal.” Whatever that means. The back driver’s side electric window does not work and has not worked since the previous owner. This also has never been looked at. There are also tiny windshield wipers on the headlights but I don’t know how to turn them on or off or even if they function properly. This vehicle has been using only the very highest grade of gasoline since the very beginning. The windshield wiper control arm was recently replaced and yet the windshield wiper signal light remains on. It is unclear why this is. As I mentioned, I drove the vehicle on February 13th and it started right up in the cold and ran smooth as silk. Sometimes, however, on rare occasion, for some reason it would not start, but when brought to the mechanic, it started again immediately. As the owner does not want to pursue any more potential repairs and wishes the vehicle to be sold without a problem, I have tried to be as honest and forthright about the vehicle as I understand it. If you are interested in seeing the vehicle and/or test driving it, you are welcome, but remember that the blower motor is currently not functioning so it could be a really cool ride. The vehicle is located in Duncan and is available for viewing/test driving in the afternoons. (After having had the vehicle inspected by a specialist since posting the original ad., I have reduced the price from $5500 to $3500). Serious Inquiries Only please.
