$70 · Rare Vintage Stainless Steel Stove Top Espresso Pot Made in Italy

MEET UP MORNINGS NEAR FORT AND COOK. Selling lots of good items some free with purchase click on my photo for listings. Makes 6 espresso cups which are 1.65 ounces each. (approx 10 ounces total). Made in Italy by AMC Art Design in the 1970’s. They were a design company that made the espresso pots and stainless steel cups saucers etc. to go with it, very good high quality stainless steel. You can have a look online for them in the auction sites. It is very clean, no marks, dents or damage. The silicone gasket is thick and strong it’ll last for years. It’s heavy duty weighs about 1.75 lbs. it’s about 9” high and 4” wide at the widest on the bottom The Bakelite/plastic knob on the lid cracked quite a long while ago so I had someone make a knob from cork, a washer and a screw. Works perfectly and won’t get hot! The knob couldn’t be replaced with another normal knob as it isn’t the usual hole in the lid but was a slot with 2 wider parts to allow the original knob to turn and lock on, so it’s irreplaceable! There are heat stains on the bottom reservoir part which is chromium oxide, that happens with stainless steel heat and has no effect. I guess you could call it patina! The last photo shows how it was with the original knob (online photo). There are a few for sale on the famous auction websites, for $130-$200 plus taxes, shipping & exchange, duty etc Now there are very few espresso pots made in Italy as it’s just too expensive both for labour snd materials . I found one this size new online for $250 plus tax and shipping by Giannina in Italy. I found another one by Gosche of Italy for $90 that I thought was made in Italy but upon reading it carefully it states “certified safety valve made in Italy”! So it’s made in China or another Asian country. The companies may well be in Italy but they aren’t manufactured there! Often there is no manufacturing country listed at all. That’s to lead you to believe it’s made in Italy. It’s intentional but not lying! Often it’s very difficult to find where it’s manufactured. Even Bialetti (their pots were always made in Italy) is now having their espresso pots all made in Asia or Brazil. It may state “Italian Coffee Maker” or “Italian Design” but that doesn’t mean MADE in Italy and 99% are not now because it’s too expensive. So if it doesn’t clearly state “MADE IN ITALY” then it isn’t! The quality of the steel and the workmanship is definitely NOT the same! That’s why they’re cheaper to buy. This is 50 yrs old and will easily last another 50 yrs. Buying quality items is always best.
