Are you interested in horticulture and do you want to learn a lot of the skills necessary for a career in this field? We offer full time, seasonal work at our family -run nursery on the Saanich Peninsula. We are one of the few wholesale, field-grown nurseries on the island and this comes with multiple learning experiences and opportunities. Year-round work and medical benefits available for the right person. This labourer job requires a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Physical fitness is a must to perform the duties. Reliability and punctuality are necessary, too. Horticultural education or experience, and mechanical skills, would be helpful but not required. The duties include, but are not limited to: -Digging and transplanting plant material -Tying burlap to secure plants -Preparing fields for replanting -General nursery duties To perform these duties, operating machinery such as tractors, skid steers, and utility vehicles, will be required. We can teach you how to do this safely. Also, use of small machines such as chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers, rototillers, will be part of the job and can be taught, as well. Learn these skills, get paid for it, get more physically fit, and leave your work behind at the end of your eight -hour day. We are not on a bus route so reliable transportation to and from work will be required. Rain gear,work gloves and steel-toed boots required. Hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (with some flexibility ) No weekend work. Wages are dependent on ability and experience. Minimum starting wage is $ 20 per hour plus 4% holiday pay. Wage would increase as you become more familiar with the job. Only applicants legally able to work in Canada, or with a current work visa, need apply.
