Circa 1920-ish. This is an original modular lawyer's or barrister's bookcase with metal knobs and glass doors that open and slide in from the top. The entire bookcase is modular, consisting of five pieces: the top, the bottom and three cabinets that all interlock. Each piece individually is deceptively light, but once put together, it forms a solid bookcase. CREATOR: Macey Furniture Co. DATE OF MANUFACTURE: c.1920-ish. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES: Oak, Glass, Metal. CONDITION: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Structurally sound and sturdy with no wobbles. HISTORY The Macey Furniture Co. was founded by Fred Macey, who served as its first chairman along with his brother Frank, who also served as treasurer.
