Meet up mornings near Fort and Cook . Selling lots of good items at fair and firm prices, some free with purchase, click on my photo for listings. The 1 litre thermal carafe is $67.71 with tax, see link. The Melitta ceramic pour over is new but vintage and is up to $100 on auction sites. The pkg of filters is $20 value. So read on to see why this is great value! This would make a very good quality gift for someone as it’s all new. No tags, but never used. Japan makes very high quality products that are made to last, and they do! If you want something that will last for many years this is it! Barring dropping either piece on a very hard surface they’ll last a lifetime! Zojurishi is a very well known manufacturer or very high quality kitchen products, both electrical and non electrical. The best actually! There is a photo explaining the three dots in the bottom of the glass liner. “The Thermal Serve Carafe features a high quality vacuum glass liner with excellent heat retention and easy-to-use twist open stopper. It also accommodates coffee filter cones for direct brewing. Its sleek design is ideal for home or office use.” Excellent new condition because it was never used! The glass liner retains heat very well, quality made in Japan to last! It’s easy to use without removing the lid, just turn the lid counter-clockwise half way to the raised “dot” pointing to the spout, to lock turn clockwise. Pours really well without dripping! Click on the amazon link for further detail. The Melitta porcelain cone fits perfectly on top of the carafe to make coffee directly into it. It is 4” high and 5” diameter. It wasn’t used either, it’s a vintage one and would’ve been made in West Germany according to a photo from a Melitta site. Now likely they are all made in China. Far better quality of porcelain than what’s made now. It’s fairly heavy, weighs over one pound. I don’t know when it was made but likely the 60-70’s. It has been stored in a cupboard for years! I see the online auctions sell these vintage ceramic cones for up to $100 with shipping. Comes with a sealed package of 200 paper filters #6 size ($20 on Amazon). They are larger than the #4 ones allowing for more coffee grounds and guarding against water spillage over the top. For comparison I see someone is selling the same ceramic cone with partial ridges on this site for $50 firm. Just the pour over cone, no filters and no carafe It is fully ridged inside and is the “1 hole” version. See the photo on the benefit of 1 hole cones. Explanation for the ridges: “The ridges in a Melitta pour over cone serve two main purposes: 1. Prevent a Seal: The ridges prevent the paper filter from lying flat against the interior walls of the cone, which stops a seal from forming. 2. Allow Airflow and Influence Flow Rate: The air pockets created by the ridges allow air to escape during the brewing process and influence the flow rate of the water through the coffee grounds and filter. This design feature contributes to a more consistent and optimal flavor extraction by ensuring even saturation and preventing the filter from clogging.” I did a “heat retention” test by preheating and then putting boiling water (210F) water in the carafe. After 3 hours the temperature was 196F After 7 hours 181F After10 hours 172F After 21 hours 149F According to the web “the preferred drinking temperature of coffee is specified in the literature as 120-140F. So even after 21 hours hours it is still hotter than the recommended drinking temperature. Stays hot longer than you need it to likely! Cold liquids would stay colder for a much longer period . This is a lot of info and detail but when you’re spending $70 for an item it’s all important detail I think! It would be to me. https://www.amazon.ca/Zojirushi-AHGB-10DWB-Thermal-Serve-Carafe/dp/B07F247H9L/ref=asc_df_B07F247H9L?mcid=67073e3790673e1286ef5f567781b965&tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706745778436&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1812849742896342087&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001599&hvtargid=pla-709265881874&psc=1&hvocijid=1812849742896342087-B07F247H9L-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1 More photos on my marketplace listing for this.
