Chemist for Startup Research Lab

Job Description: Lab Research Chemist Are you inspired to help improve water quality? Want to make the world a better place? 2S Water is looking for a chemist to work in our research and development lab. We are building and distributing an online sensor that uses spectral analysis of plasma to detect and quantify elemental contamination in water. We need a chemist to help with day to day tasks such as preparing control solutions, analysing client samples on our machine to support sales staff, ongoing research projects and advising on issues surrounding the device’s chemistry. You will be involved in the preparation and submission of patents as well as the publishing of any academically interesting results from our work. You will design and implement tests based upon our technical challenges. We’re on a mission to protect the world’s water, and we want you to join us. Looking for someone who loves new challenges, is a creative thinker, and technically skilled. We are a small startup and this position is a great way to be involved in a wide range of tasks at a growing company. Tasks and Expectations: - Design and implement R&D tests to answer outstanding questions - Sample and standard handling, preparation and testing - Determine safe handling procedures for different chemicals - Create safety data sheets and shipping procedures for solutions - Work on hardware adaptations for improved chemistry - Help assemble units where needed. - Additional tasks as required. Skills: - Chemistry skills - Physics skill, understanding and experience with spectroscopy is an advantage. - Engineering skills are a bonus but not required. Education: • Masters in Chemistry or greater • Engineering skills an asset • Safety training and certifications will be supplied Location: Esquimalt, BC Salary Expectations: $45,000-$55,000 Annual.
