Heavy Duty Mechanic position

Heavy Metal Marine Ltd. is looking for a full-time Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our mechanical team. Our shop is located on the Malahat, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. Job Description: • Heavy equipment diagnosis, repairs, maintenance and testing on large off-road heavy equipment (excavators, rock trucks, tractors, loaders), lifting equipment (crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes), drill rigs, and marine equipment (tugboat, barges, crew vessels) • Troubleshooting of engine, hydraulic, electrical, braking and powertrain systems • Perform large component replacements • Rotate through shop and field assignments as required • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and equipment deficiencies • Participate in the development of, and the ability to follow maintenance procedures and instructions • Participate in safety programs and adhere to site safety standards • Operating heavy equipment when required • Wages starting at $45+/hr, negotiable based on experience • Service truck and all major tools provided • Competitive benefits package Qualifications & Skills: • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician - Red Seal Certification • 5+ years experience with large off-road heavy equipment • Apprentices considered, based on experience • Experience with lifting equipment and marine equipment an asset • Knowledge of equipment diagnostic programs an asset (eg. CAT ET Software) • Valid BC Drivers License (Class 5 with Air Brake Endorsement) and clean BC Drivers Abstract required. • Occupational First Aid an asset • Education and experience flexible to the right applicant. • Hard working, energetic self-starter • Good communication and organizational skills • Strong general repair skills • Strong mechanical aptitude & technical skills
