Brand new Hoppe's 1-Piece Stainless Steel Universal Cleaning Rod suitable for .22" and up. Comes with 3 different size jags for patches plus an adapter to convert the tip from the standard 8-32 female thread up to the larger 5/16-27 female thread. Rod Length: 33 7/8" (860mm), overall length (including handle): 35 3/4" (908mm). The one piece polished stainless steel shaft is stronger and less damaging than multi piece rods that have a small imperfection at every joint. The hardness of the stainless steel rod is less than the barrel and will not damage the barrel. The ball bearing handle allows the rod to turn independently to the handle. When researching rods I was surprised to find out that bare aluminum rods are extremely abrasive. Bare aluminum quickly oxidizes into aluminum oxide which is extremely hard and abrasive (used in sharpening stones). The hard surface is damaging to the barrel and all the little scratches that are created on the aluminum surface quickly oxidize into sharp edged aluminum oxide which turns your rod into a fine file. They suggest only using an aluminum rod if it is coated.
