Oxford University Press. Vintage 1968 hardcovers in very good condition with dust jackets. Edited by Ann Saddlemyer. The collected works of J. M. Synge consisted of four volumes, the first two being his prose and the latter two being his plays. Presented here are volumes three and four, the complete plays. John Millington Synge (1871-1909) leading figure in the Irish literary renaissance, a poetic dramatist of great power who portrayed the harsh rural conditions of the Aran Islands and the western Irish seaboard with sophisticated craftsmanship. These editions are ex-library books but do not contain a pasted library card holder on the inside cover. The dust jackets were laminated to protect them along with the library identification sticker present on the bottom spine, which has been removed. The only indicator the books themselves are ex-library is an ink stamp on the bottom title page that reads "Library Development Commission Victoria, BC", and is not very obstructive. These volumes contain extensive footnotes making them the most exhaustive editions of J. M. Synge's plays ever produced, and remain very uncommon editions. $20. **I will message back within a day – check your junk folder or text for quickest response: 250-818-4107** Pickup is in Saanich close to the Monkey Tree Pub just off McKenzie.
