This lovely chair has graced my life for many years, but I've downsized and it's time for it to be loved by someone new. Custom made entirely of quarter sawn oak without a bit of metal, the chair is designed to take apart for flat storage or shipping. Beautiful to look at, beautifully functional, and comfortable. (I add a seat cushion). Carved into the seat back are the initials, WLM - I am told for West London Methodist Mission, which was founded in the same time period and place as the Arts and Crafts movement, and that this one of a kind chair was designed and crafted then of English oak. "...the Arts and Crafts Movement came as a response to the damaging effects of the industrial revolution, which had negatively affected social values and aesthetics., ... Launched between 1880 and around the 1920s, the movement had become an umbrella of societies, artists, designers, architects, and artisans who were geared towards creating decorative arts."
