$60,000 · Senior Accountant

We are in search of a Senior Accountant who has bookkeeping/accounting experience up to trial balance. We are searching for an individual who will learn and perform all facets of both our Canadian and USA accounting/finance operations, to eventually step into the role of Controller within 3-5 years. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate with a diverse team, and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency while meeting changing priorities. Your position will initially oversee the accurate accounting for our US subsidiary, US payroll (and related payroll matters), and working with staff in the US, disbursement of AP, correct work order and inventory recording. Once comfortable with all US processes, and producing US payroll, you will be guided through the Canadian financial operations. Responsibility and duties [both locations]: • Hands-on accounting, payroll, financing duties and oversight for our USA location. • Complete monthly processing, to trial balance, reconciliations, statutory filings and other reconciliations and tasks as required. • Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements and supporting working paper files. • General Ledger maintenance • Assist in data entry with AP and AR cycles to help ensure deadlines are met. • Complete full cycle records for small associated companies. • Exercise sound judgement and decision making. • Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Required skills and accomplishments: • Enrollment in CPA program • Minimum of 2-5 years of accounting, to trial balance, experience • Canadian payroll experience and knowledge of BC Labour Legislation • Highly proficient in Excel and Word • Experience with array functions and pivot tables to analyze and interpret data • Experience in a multinational environment an asset • Experience with corporate legal, insurance, and regulatory obligations • Ability to work with minimal supervision Advantages: • Competitive salary • Group benefits • Professional development Job Type: Full-time Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year Benefits: • Casual dress • Company events • Dental care • Extended health care • Life insurance Schedule: • Monday to Friday Work Location: One location – Sidney BC
